The main house

This restored boho-chic cortijo stands high on its 6 acres of land and overlooks the mountainous countryside of Cuevas del Almanzora. Access from the main road is via a track that leads to the graveled parking area.
The main house has a constructed size of 321 square meters, over two floors. It is built in a U-shape around a patio.

There is a large terrace at the entrance of the house. Antique wooden door opens into a beautiful entrance hall. This spacious hall shows wonderful, original features that remain intact throughout the house such as wooden beams and gorgeous tile flooring. These features are a perfect back drop for the fantastic boho chic interiors.

Left of the entrance hall there is a spacious dining room with log burner. From the dining room you have access to a large terrace, overlooking the pool area. Behind the dining room is a delightful country kitchen with large fireplace. From the kitchen you walk out on the courtyard, the heart of the property. On the courtyard are several fruit trees and plants, as well as lots of space for lounging and dining. The covered bar is perfect for entertaining guests. At the end of the courtyard are several storage rooms that close the U-shape of the house and these would make great guest rooms.

From the entrance hall you can walk straight into one of the double bedrooms. This bedroom has access to the courtyard.

Right from the entrance hall is a sitting room with high ceiling and a large window to the front terrace. On the side of the sitting room some steps lead to the second double bedroom. Behind the sitting room, is a stunning lounge room. It has an original Andalusian sink as main feature.

From this room, you have access to a stunning bathroom. It has an enormous walk-in shower and double vanities. Behind the bathroom is an office. It has access to the courtyard.

The staircase in the entrance hall leads to the first floor. There is a spacious landing with library and reading corner in front of a log burner. There is a third double bedroom to your left. It has large French doors that open up to a beautiful view on the countryside.

From the landing you also have access to the master bedroom. It is a stunning room with large windows and exposed beams. It has an open plan bathroom. It features a bathtub-with-a-view, a shower and double vanities.

The Guesthouse

Next to the main house, a path leads to the guest quarters. Double wooden doors open into a private, walled courtyard with palm trees. You enter the 52 square meter guesthouse via large entry doors with glass. There is an open plan room with Andalusian ceiling. In the room is a stunning double bed and lounge area. Next to this room is a small kitchen that leads to a bathroom with shower.

Exteriors

There is a large pool next to house and guest house, on a lower part of the grounds. It has large terraces and mature trees that provide some welcome shade in summer.

There are several terraces, barbecue areas and garden areas. There is plenty of space to start your own orchard and vegetable garden.

Water and electricity

The property is connected to the mains electricity, but has no mains water. It has a large water deposit of 14.000l, that is regularly filled by water truck with natural spring water. There is also irrigation water available on the property.

Condition and finishing

The house is in good condition and move in ready. There are several log burners and fireplaces in the property. In this area of Spain, that is ideal for winter evenings. The house has telephone and internet. The kitchen has a gas HOB and good appliances.

Use and potential uses

It is a gorgeous family home with a guest or granny annex. The location of the property is also ideal for a B&B. There is already a self catering guest house and the storerooms on the main courtyard, would make fantastic guest rooms, while conserving the privacy of the main house.

The Location

Access to the property’s main entrance is from a public, asphalted road, onto a track that leads to the house.

The villages of Vera and Cuevas del Almanzora are both at ten minutes from the property. In both villages you will find an ample variety of schools, doctors practices, pharmacies, supermarkets, libraries, weekly markets, restaurants and bars. The lovely small village of Antas is also ten minutes from the property. The lovely white town of Mojacar is 15 minutes from the house, as are the beautiful coves on Cuevas del Almanzora’s coastline and the large sandy beaches of Vera Playa. There are two 18 hole golf courses within a 10 minute drive from the property and three more within a 20 minute radius.

Cuevas del Almanzora has over 300 days of sunshine per year. Temperatures during the day in winter tend to be around 16-22 degrees and in summer 28-32 degrees.

The closest airport is Almeria about 45 minutes away, while the international airport of Murcia (140 km) is at one and a half hour. Alicante airport (200 km) is a two hour drive away and the airport of Malaga is at two and a half hours.
