The Country House

This country house of 310 sq.m has a central courtyard and sun and covered terraces around the house. It has a 44 sq.m garage, a large covered parking area. There is a 12 x 5 swimming pool, a private well with pump and irrigation house.

You approach the property from a private driveway that runs along an orange grove to a large parking area. Here you have covered parking for three cars and the entrance to the double garage. You stand in front of the antique double wooden doors that open to the central courtyard of the house. 

This beautiful courtyard has a large olive tree of over 100 years old, orange trees and a pergola. The pergola is overgrown with jasmine that will smother itself in white, star-shaped flowers from spring to fall and fragrance the entire patio. This patio is the heart of the property. All rooms on the ground floor have access to it.

Extraordinary double doors in solid wood bring you into the entrance hall. Here is a feature staircase to the tower of the villa where beautiful light filtrates in via moorish coloured glass windows at the top. 

To the right of the hallway are the living areas. You arrive in the spacious living room with fireplace and ample dining area. French doors open to the courtyard on one side and large windows overlook the pool area on the other side. Next to the dining area is a cosy TV / reading room with high ceiling. Exterior

The country house has at least as much outside living areas as it has inside the house. There is a large, naturally covered porch alongside the kitchen, reading room and dining area. This terrace overlooks a beautiful mature garden and continues to the pool area. The area around the pool has several sun terraces and landscaped areas. The house has several patios and all bedrooms and the studio apartment have private terraces. 

Casa Las Granadas has a mature olive grove and the property produces its own, ecological extra virgin olive oil from the Picual variety. There is an orchard with orange, lemon and mandarin trees. There are several ‘terraces’ of this property’s private grounds that are currently not used. The earth is suitable for horse keeping, growing grass or alfalfa or to extend the groves.  

The area around the house is landscaped with mature trees, cacti and flowering shrubs. 

Water

The property has its own well water of good quality, which is pumped to the main house. There it passes through a filter. The kitchen has a reverse osmosis installation that makes it drinking water. The well water irrigates the gardens and groves.

Electricity and Gas

The property has mains electricity. In the house, there is oil fuel underfloor heating throughout the villa. The kitchen has an AGA type 5 burner gas hob with two electric ovens. The gas bottle is stored outside the house.

The Location

Access to the property is from a quiet public country road, is very private, and set in a sought after area. This Sierra Cabrera valley echoes an ancient technology that helped turn this area of Mojacar into a verdant paradise as far back as 1,200 years ago. Terraces are carved into the valley slopes and fed by Sierra Cabrera’s spring water by a network of irrigation channels. This is a technique mastered by the Moors that continues to sustain local farmers today.

The lovely old white town of Mojacar is a five minute drive. Here you find the weekly market, bars, restaurants, primary school and the municipal pool. The beaches of Mojacar are 10 minutes away. In Mojacar Playa you will find all amenities. There is a large variety of  traditional Spanish and international restaurants, cafes and bistrots.  There are banks, private and public doctor’s practices, dental clinics and a high school.

The town of Turre is also but five minutes away. There is also a weekly market, supermarkets, restaurants, bars and schools. The traditional fishing village of Garrucha is 12 minutes away.

Mojacar has over 310 days of sunshine a year and has over 20km of beaches consisting of both rocky coves and sandy beaches. Temperatures during the day in winter tend to be around 16-22 degrees and in summer 28-32 degrees.

The closest airport is Almeria about 45 minutes away, while the international airport of Murcia (140 km) is at one and a half hour and Alicante airport (200 km) is a two hour drive away. The airport of Malaga is two and a half hours away.
