The House
When redesigning this cortijo, the original layout and structure of the property were respected in order to preserve its character and authenticity. Nevertheless, every square centimetre of the home — floors, ceilings, roofs, installations and walls — is entirely new.
A beautiful stable door leads into an atmospheric entrance hall with refined terracotta tiles and attractive wall niches within the 60 cm thick walls. To the left is the living room, a cosy space overlooking the pool terrace and featuring a wood-burning stove. At the far end of the room, a staircase leads to the principal bedroom.
Adjoining the living room is a small hallway separating a bathroom and two bedrooms, one of which is currently used as an office. The living room and bedrooms have ceramic wood-effect flooring.
From the entrance hall you enter a spacious, well-equipped kitchen with generous dining space. The kitchen overlooks an Andalusian interior patio that enhances the authentic charm of the home. Here you will find a wood-burning stove with oven, bespoke cabinetry topped with a large Dekton work surface, and a beautiful solid marble sink. The integrated electrical appliances are by Bosch, except for the minimalist induction hob with integrated extractor from the premium brand Bora. The striking kitchen floor features rhomboid terracotta tiles. To the rear of the kitchen is a practical pantry with an additional fridge and freezer.
The entire upper floor of the house is occupied by the principal bedroom, which overlooks both the patio and the outdoor pool. It is a spacious room with high wooden ceilings and a very original linen cupboard. Adjacent is the dressing room with floor-to-ceiling fitted wardrobes, providing access to the bathroom. The bathroom includes a shower and a freestanding bath with a window facing the patio.
Outdoor Areas
Beautiful wooden doors open from the street onto the cosy walled terrace — a wonderful space for enjoying outdoor living. There is a highly inviting modern saltwater swimming pool with outdoor shower. Near the entrance to the house is a covered lounge area, as well as an outdoor kitchen with barbecue, grill, fridge and sink, ideal for al fresco dining. Location
The cortijo is situated in Llano de los Olleres, on the road from Albox to the mountain sanctuary of El Saliente. It is a charming village with predominantly Spanish residents (116). Llanos de los Olleres has a beautiful church and a bar/restaurant, offering a offering a peaceful, relaxed setting in which to enjoy the warm climate of Almería.
A five-minute drive brings you to the centre of Albox, with a wide selection of Spanish and international restaurants and bars, as well as schools, medical practices, dentists, banks, shops and several supermarkets. From Albox, the beaches of Vera and Mojácar can be reached in approximately 35 minutes via the motorway.
Fifteen minutes from the property lies the 18th-century sanctuary of El Saliente, still in active use today. Originally inhabited by monks, it has been restored and now welcomes visitors and pilgrims who climb Monte Roel. The sanctuary is managed by the diocese and remains a “living” place, particularly during the celebrations of the Virgen del Saliente at the beginning of September. Visitors can enjoy its remarkable architecture, stunning views, a meal in the restaurant, and even overnight accommodation.
